Unlimited Editions Prints + Letterpress

Today’s post is dedicated to a very cool annual art festival that kicks off this weekend (for the entire month of May) in Brighton (UK), called the Artists Open Houses.  One of my favourite studios that is a participant in the Artists Open Houses event, and which has curated an impressive collection of typography, prints and letterpress pieces, is called Unlimited Editions.

Unlimited Editions it a true treasure trove for all things typography and print related.  If you can’t hop on a plane to visit their studio and store in Brighton, they do ship most items around the globe.  I am in love with their linen backed London route master bus destination blinds (unfortunately these signs are not for shipping and you do need to get to Brighton to make this purchase).

31 Bits

Hello blog readers.  I hope you had an exciting weekend full of sunshine.  It was 32 degrees with plenty of sun in Prague and the streets were rammed with tourists.  The city is in full bloom with the smell of lilac bushes.  Lots of exciting things are going on that I will share with you over the month of May including a series of photo shoots I am organizing for a new project which will launch in July.  My team and I had our first photo shoot this weekend at a friend’s house and it went off without a hitch and we all learned a few things to help us better prepare for the next one and feasted on a tasty vegetarian lunch.

I have been meaning to blog about social jewelry company,  31 Bits, as I think they are worth talking about.  I shared with you all earlier this month that my wedding clock is ticking away and we are soon approaching our wedding date in August. While most of the event pieces are falling in line nicely,  I currently have no dress, no shoes and no jewelry so my hunting efforts have kicked into overdrive.  I decided to start with jewelry and work backwards from there!

I can’t remember the first time 31 Bits crossed my path, as several terrific people have profiled them this pas year including 100 Layer Cake, glitter guide, and apartment 34 (to name a few).  However, when I checked out the 31 Bits website and read more about the brand’s story, I fell in love with their purpose, designs and more importantly, their recently launched bridal line.

31 Bits is a great company and is getting a lot of well deserved attention these days.   The company has a terrific entrepreneurial story and social community focus to their business.   They work directly with a community of women in Northern Uganda who specialize in making paper beads (the designers of the company).  If you are a bride or bridesmaid, it is perfect timing to have a company like this cross your radar as the festive wedding season has officially kicked off and I know how stressful the hunt for finding the latest and greatest can be to make sure you are primped and polished to the max before walking down the aisle.

I love their caramel dust look (below).  There is one more necklace I like but can’t find it right now for some reason.

Photos for a Happy Thursday

Today started out rather grim.  It was rainy and cold and quite miserable in the city.  The type of day where you want to stay home, curl up in a warm afghan, with a book, a big pot of green tea and hibernate.  My energy felt totally drained by the grey skies.

This afternoon, instead of coming straight home to spend the afternoon working, I decided to take myself to a two hour dance workshop that was being run not too far from the college where I teach.  Let me tell you, it was a blast.

Post dance class, my body is super sore from the work out as dance is not in my repertoire for exercise but I got to laugh at myself, and my apparently clumsy, and slightly uncoordinated movements (all important things). Sometimes you just need to switch things up a bit.  When I left the studio, lucky me, the sun had come out which is what I am looking at now out of the west facing window of my flat as I write this post.  I am keeping my fingers crossed the weather stays like this all weekend.

What is making you smile this afternoon?  Here are some photos that may help.

Black Roses Comme de Garcon

I just returned home from watching a hilarious live performance of Shakespere’s Commedy of Errors broadcast by the National Theatre at a cinema in Prague.  While I was gone, I received this lovely photo from a friend.

I loved it so much I thought I would share it with you all.

The Black Roses poster by Comme de Garçon is circa 1995.

Enjoy

I feel like having a party

For some reason, I got home from teaching today and I felt like dressing up and having an afternoon party. I don’t know if it’s the warm weather, my excitement over my party clothes shipment from Asos.com or the fact that I am looking forward to baking 30 lemon cupcakes for the weekend.  Something says it is time to entertain.  In my fantasy entertaining world, if I was to dream up my afternoon party I would make sure to fill my table and home with the following items.

1. Flowers from Saipua in Brooklyn.  I like how the fuscia stands out from the pack.

2. Invitations, hand done by Plurabelle Calligraphy. I like the look of the calligraphy on the chalk boards below.

3. This ombre cake by Apt2B Baking Co. first because I love ombre, second because the cake is almond, another fav.

4. Chocolate pumps for my guests from Jordino in Amsterdam. I swear these things call out to you when you walk by the window.  I want to crunch on a chocolate shoe with sprinkles.

5. Finally, a fun mix of colourful and interesting table top items to accessorise the food and drink. Yes, I threw in two bright clutches, not as a table top accessory but more as a thought of what my guests would be holding to brighten up their outfits.

Rubber Stamps

I am in the market for some rubber stamps to use with my wedding invitations but don’t know which to choose! There are so many exciting designs, shapes, patterns and colours, I am not sure how I am going to make a choice.

I love that stamps have gotten so creative.  There are as many stamps as stationery choices.  Mind boggling really.  Fortunately Etsy makes it super easy to find someone to work with!!
