It is so interesting how you find inspirational things. This post took a couple twists and turns to arrive at decided to talk about pinwheels. As a kid I remember having a plastic pinwheel made of a shiny green and silver colour. Ahhh simple entertainment for kids. The 80s were the good old days! While I was checking back on the latest and greatest from Amy Atlas, I read about a guest post who crafted an event in fashion brand, lily pulitzer colours, pink and green. The person who put the kids birthday party together (from blog, kori clark designs) used pinwheels to decorate the table and had them made in the lily pulitzer aesthetic (see picture below). Thankfully Kori included her sources which lead me to Twirlie Whirlie, a home made paper accessory company that seems to have a unique talent for creating and designing unique pinwheels among other products that you can browse/shop for on their website here. This is a cool, crafty company. They make their own pinwheels out of colourful (scrapbook-looking) paper. Just the thing to add to a wedding or birthday party to make the event extra special.

My find of the weekend had to be from grocery store, Holiday Market, in Royal Oak, Michigan (near Troy/Birmingham): Boxed water. That’s right. Water in a box. Two young entrepreneurs from Michigan created the product and I love its simplicity and bold packaging. I was walking up and down the aisles taking in everything new and creative in the Holiday Market grocery store when I was stopped in my tracks in the beverage section. The white carton of water was calling out to me, literally (it says “hello” on the side of the box) so much so that I purchased two boxes of water- yet to be consumed. Just like their website states, “boxed water is better!” Even the cashier had a good laugh. She hadn’t seen the product yet and took a double take when I put both cartons on the conveyor belt to pay.

I thought this origami inspired font was awesome! It is from Handmade Font in Estonia and I found out about it from blog, lotus haus. The company specializes in developing hand made, unique, non traditional fonts. The fonts can be purchased and used in all types of print/web applications.

First off, if you have not been to Bangkok, it is an inspiring city bursting with creativity, colour and excellent food. Not only are the winding streets full of gems with amazing home accessories stores, furniture stores and jewelry, but also the fragrant smells of street food and flower markets are enough to make this entertainer want to pack up her bags and move there permanently.
There is a Belgian chocolate company in Bangkok called Duc de Praslin that has some pretty stylish interior design that unfortunately I can find any shots for. However, to get a sense of the style that is going on in the cosmopolitan city of Bangkok, let me direct your attention to my favourite furniture company in Bangkok and Shanghai, Casa Pagoda. Casa Pagoda did the design for the chocolate store plus many more projects. I am hoping to get back to Bangkok myself next year to do some furniture shopping, I will most definitely be paying Casa Pagoda a visit. Man, I hope they ship overseas!
