Vere Chocolate

I am a sucker for great packaging.  Especially when it is colourful and well thought out because it is easier to incorporate products such as these in event design.

Vere Chocolate, from NYC fits the bill.  Both its truffles and the chocolate bars are nicely presented and packaged.

What’s cool is that the company had a full chocolate factory in the city on West 27th street where owner, Kathy Moskal used to hold factory days and wine events for consumers to come and try the product but it looks like the last one was held in March according to the company website.  Hopefully they will resurface again- sounds like a fun event to attend.

In the mean time, it looks like these sweet treats have a solid distribution around NYC so the chocolates can still be purchased if you know where to find them.

Sparkling Tea: A Non Alcoholic Alternative

I just read about this sparkling tea from Golden Star Tea Company in Metropolitan Home this month and it looks like bubbly champagne but it’s jasmine tea.  I think this is a  great idea if you are looking for a non alcoholic alternative  to offer your guests at an event. After doing a bit of digging, I read that Golden Star Tea is available at Whole Foods in California and in couple other states.  The other great thing is that the website offers pairings for all you event enthusiasts out there.

I am heading down to NYC next month and hope to find a bottle to taste, otherwise the shipping costs are super expensive and I don’t think I want to foot the bill to ship a four pack to Toronto.  Has anyone tried this?

Someone messaged me to say that Golden Star Tea is available at Pusateri’s in Toronto but I wasn’t able to find it at its Yorkville location.

Fashionable Green Cupcakes for Baby Shower

I made these cupcakes a couple weeks ago for a friend of a friend’s bridal shower.  I decided to go a bit fashion forward with the design and created a variety of green textures and topings on chocolate brownie and vanilla bases.

Instead of the traditional baby blue, I stepped out of the box with this one- a bit more grown up, if I can call it that.  I displayed the cupcakes on gold and silver serving pieces.  The gold trays are from the Party Supply Depot on Doncaster Road.  They are super cheap but present really well.  The silver “tear drop” cake stand is from William Ashley’s.

New Chocolate Shop on Dundas West: Odile Chocolat

I was having brunch with my father on the weekend on Dundas West at Musa.  While we were walking back to the car, we stumbled across a tiny store front that I thought was under renovations.  What caught my eye to make me think otherwise, the chocolate and colourful logo in the window.  I couldn’t just walk by this little gem so I dragged my dad in the store for a peak and a sample . What I discovered: Odile Chatelain, owner and chocolate maker extraordinaire has been making chocolate all her life in one way or another.  This is her first retail location but she has been selling her confections for years.

If you are downtown and are craving something sweet, stop by and say hi to Odile.  Her confections are tasty and beautiful.  Great if you want to colour coordinate chocolate for an event.   I took a couple pictures of some of the chocolates I purchased from the store.

Les Chocolats de Chloe: MTL

The website to Les Chocolats de Chloe reminded me of the website I wrote about in Paris a while back.  The owner chose to simulate the shop where guests can come in and browse, click on items to read about them while the animated characters move around.

I was just in Montreal on Monday and Tuesday of this week but sadly did not have a chance to make it over to this cute, little store.

However, I thought I would share the site as the brand was recommended to me as having great chocolate.

New Candy Store in Ottawa

For those of you planning splendid sweet tables for wedding season and live in or within a manageable drive from Ottawa, I would recommend checking out The Candy Store, Ottawa’s newest stop for bonbons.

I think they did a great job with merchandising and the interior decor of the store.  I like the simple logo as well.
